1.5 lb ground turkey or lean ground beef
8 oz crushed tomatoes
8 oz tomato sauce
2 tbsp ketchup
2 bay leaves
1 large onion diced
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1tsp Worcheshire sauce
1/4 tsp cinnamon, allspice
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper (optional)
2% sharp cheddar cheese
Spray skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Heat.
Add onions and meat, stirring to brown and break apart meat. Drain.
Add all remaining ingredients (except cheese) and simmer over low heat for an hour or more.
Top individual servings with cheese. (Dark kidney beans may be added to the recipe to increase protein.)
